MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Five people have been arrested after investigators say they uncovered a meth manufacturing site inside a Manitowoc residence.
Authorities say they received tips about suspicious activity occurring at a residence in the 1000 block of S. 16th Street.
During surveillance of the area, a suspect was seen leaving the address and discarding a plastic bag into an area dumpster. Upon further inspection, the bag contained improvised utensils believed to have recently been used to manufacture meth. A search of the dumpster found multiple discarded plastic bags containing similar type improvised utensils.
The suspect, Nicholas J. Bevan, 42, was taken into custody.
He faces four charges, including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17. He is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
A search warrant was then served at the residence on May 26 where dozens of items were found that were believed to have been used in the manufacturing process.
Due to the suspected hazardous waste involved in the manufacturing process, the Division of Criminal Investigation – Clandestine Laboratory Team responded to the scene, as well as the Manitowoc Fire Department.
Four others were arrested:
Anthony Carter, 32, faces 11 charges, including maintaining a drug trafficking place. He has requested a new judge, and once one is assigned, a preliminary hearing will be scheduled. He is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
