SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ) — A new public camping ground is opening next month at the Brown County Reforestation Camp.
Parks Director Matt Kriese says the camp will bring a major boost to the area and take advantage of growing national interest in camping.
“Camping in general has been on the rise, and that trend has been fairly steady,” Kriese told WTAQ. “The RV industry has seen to 12-15% growth in just the last year.”
Kriese says that the county gets constant inquiries about camping during the summer at their two other camp sites at Bay Shore and the Fairgrounds, but that they’re regularly filled up.
“We receive a lot of phone calls regarding camping. People are unable to find a camp site,” said Kriese. “So they’re forced to look elsewhere.”
The new site opens officially on June 3rd, but online reservations will begin Wednesday.
