BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Drivers on Highway 172 and Interstate 43 are being warned to watch their speed in the coming days.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is doing some enforcement operations from the air in the days leading up to Memorial Day weekend.
The schedule is:
Wednesday, May 18
- Hwy. 172, Brown County
Friday, May 20
- I-39/90/94, Columbia County
Sunday, May 22
- I-39/90/94, Columbia County
Monday, May 23
- I-41, Washington County
Wednesday, May 25
- Hwy. 172, Brown County
Thursday, May 26
- I-43, Sheboygan County
The State Patrol says it’s much easier to spot aggressive drivers from the air. A pilot who sees a traffic violation radios crews on the ground to make a traffic stop.
Troopers say their goal is not to pull over drivers or write tickets, but to keep the roads safe, which is why they announce some aerial enforcements ahead of time.
