OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new way of taking to the water is coming to Oshkosh this summer.
One company will be taking folks around in a floating Tiki-themed charter, so alongside boats this summer, don’t be surprised to see what looks like a floating Tiki hut out on the Fox River.
Cruisin’ Tikis is Oshkosh’s new Tiki Boat.
“There’s a lot of them down in Florida, and we just had a blast and really thought Oshkosh would be a good place to have one,” said Cruisin’ Tikis Oshkosh boat captain Joe Lefeber.
Joe and Tammy Lefeber are the owners of Cruisin’ Tikis Oshkosh.
“It’s perfect! It’s amazing, and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else,” said Tammy Lefeber, who is also the company’s marketing director.
The business started when Joe got the idea of bringing a south Florida or Caribbean vibe to the Fox Valley, after the couple visited Key West.
“COVID hit, and I think he was given so much more time to really just sit and think about things, ‘cause he couldn’t go to work,” Tammy said. “He started digging more into it, and every time we came around the corner, we just ran out of reasons to say no! I was like, ‘Yup! That sounds great!’”
Joe Lefeber says the floating Tiki boat will feature two-hour private cruises and four different themes guests can choose from.
“A 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. cruise, which is gonna be Mimosas; a 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for sunset.”
The tropical tours will depart from the docks of the Fox River Brewing Company.
Renters can bring their own food and drinks onboard, with a cooler and ice already provided. Bluetooth speakers to play your favorite tunes are also available.
The boat can seat up to six.
“This was a great opportunity to not only have a boat and do things out on the water, but also the entire community could enjoy experiences without having the stress or worry about, you know, who’s gonna drive, or is it safe,” said Tammy.
The Lefebers purchased their floating Tiki boat in Florida. It arrived in Oshkosh Wednesday, and Joe says already the boat is creating waves.
