OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — UW-Oshkosh introduced a new ride service for students Friday.
It’s part of their UWO Go non-emergency safe ride service.
Students use an app to book their rides.
Select student employees drive the car and pick up other students to make sure they get safely around campus.
Organizers say took a lot of communication and effort to get this started.
“Getting something like this for UW-Oshkosh is a collaboration. It’s a collaboration between the police, the dean of students, the Oshkosh student association, the human resources office. It took some work to help people understand that this is important. It took some work to get the funding. And then it took some effort to get the van here and wrapped. But it really takes a lot of work to make something like this move forward,” said Chris Tarmann, Captain of Police at UW-Oshkosh.
The program is expected to fully start ahead of the fall 2022 semester.
