APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — No one was hurt during a house fire Sunday morning in Appleton.
Just before 1:00 a.m., Appleton Fire Department was sent to the 1800 block of East Forest Street for reports of a house fire.
When fire crews got to the scene, flames were visible on the side of the house, and they began fighting the fire from the outside of the home.
A search was done to confirm that there weren’t any occupants in the house.
The fire was brought under control in fifteen minutes.
No one was injured, but a family of two adults, a child, and a pet were affected by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Damage to the building and its contents are estimated to be around $40,000.
The Appleton Fire Department says that the cause of the fire appears to be disposal of smoking materials.
