FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The driver of a vehicle that struck an ambulance transporting a patient in a Fond du Lac intersection was found guilty of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
David G. Worley, 30, entered a no contest plea Friday after a five-day jury trial had been set to commence next week.
Prosecutors say Worley crashed into the ambulance at the intersection of Main Street and Johnson Street on Sept. 15, 2020 around 4:30 a.m.
The passenger in Worley’s vehicle, 21-year-old Jonathan Bruemmer of Fond du Lac, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The patient and two ambulance crew members had minor injuries.
A hospital blood draw after the crash showed Worley’s blood alcohol concentration to be .213 g/100mL, court documents say.
Worley is scheduled to be sentenced on July 7. He faces up to 15 years of initial confinement and 10 years of extended supervision with a fine of up to $100,000. There is presumed mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years of confinement.
