COLOMA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is visiting Waushara County Tuesday.
Buttigieg is promoting the $1.2 trillion infrastructure law passed last year. Buttigieg and President Joe Biden have been traveling to rural locations around the country to promote the law.
Buttigieg is stopping at the International Union of Operating Engineers’ Wisconsin Operating Engineers Training Center in Coloma.
Tuesday is IUOE’s Externship Day, where high school students from around Wisconsin can get a first-hand look at the operation of heavy machinery, hands-on experience with mini-excavators, and meetings with industry professionals about apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and job shadow and work experiences.
Republican National Committee spokesperson Rachel Reisner issued this statement on Buttigieg’s visit:
“Tired of watching Biden administration officials use their state as a backdrop to rehabilitate their dismal approval ratings, Wisconsinites will ignore Pete Buttigieg’s attempts to distract voters from the broken supply chain, skyrocketing inflation, and Biden’s Gas Hike.”
