APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Despite an increase in attention on local elections, election turnout in Outagamie County stayed pretty consistent for Tuesday’s election compared to previous years.
“Approximately 25,000 people voted in Outagamie County, about 22% of the electorate,” said County Clerk Jeff King. “That’s a little lower than the last few years, but still in the same ballpark.”
County Clerk Jeff King says that might be because some municipalities barely had anything on the ballot, with some having no contested municipal races at all.
“I can’t say for sure if that affects turnout, but it seems like places will get more turnout if they have a contested race,” King added.
Overall, King says, the election went well.
“There were minor things that happened here and there, like in every election,” said King. “But our municipalities do a great job at making sure everything is accurate and done well by the end of the night.”
King says they hope that bodes well for the general election later this year, in November.
