GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The generosity of Northeast Wisconsin continues to make a difference for Ukrainians.
For the fourth time, a truck arrived at St. Matthews Orthodox Church in Green Bay to pick up donations to be sent to Ukraine.
Among the donations are clothes, food and medical supplies for refugees and some combat equipment for those defending their country against the Russians.
President of Wisconsin Ukrainians Inc., Johnathan Pylypiv says they used some of the monetary donations to purchase a van which is helping transport refugees and supplies between Ukraine and Poland.
“We’re trying to do things that help prolong the life of the Ukrainian people. There’s a genocide that’s been happening and we’re seeing a lot more evidence with that. We want to do whatever it takes to help save the Ukrainian people so there’s no more refugees being made, no more orphans being created each day.”
Pylypiv says the organization is open to other ways individuals, nonprofits and companies would like to help out, for example some are hosting bake sales and golf outings to raise money and awareness. You can reach out to them to discuss ideas.
He says support will continue to be needed as Ukraine defends its nation against Russia and when the conflict is over, the country will need help rebuilding.
