TOWN OF RICHMOND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — UPDATE: The Wisconsin Department of Justice now says two people are dead following a shooting in the Town of Richmond.
Officials say a Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a residence on Oak Avenue around 3:55 p.m. for a domestic disturbance.
When they arrived, the deputy witnessed a male shoot a female, and towards the deputy.
The male and deputy exchanged gunfire, and the male was killed after being struck.
Officials say the female, who was shot by the male, is also dead.
No law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident.
The involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice continues to investigate the incident.

There is a large police presence in the area of a storage building just west of Shawano.
The law enforcement response appears to be in the area of Oak Avenue, in Thornton, just north of State Highway 29.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department has not released any details about the incident.
