Another local product has informed UWGB’s basketball program he’s entering the NCAA transfer portal. Guard Lucas Stieber who walked on with GB after a standout career at Green Bay Southwest High School, eventually earning a scholarship, will look for another opportunity. Stieber is the grandson of former Green Bay and Wisconsin Head Coach Dick Bennett. After being named to the Horizon League’s All Freshman team in 2020, Stieber started 21 games last season, averaging 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game and led the team in his assist to turnover ratio. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining in his college career as a graduate transfer and will be able to immediately join his new team.
Stieber joins two other players who have announced plans to transfer, joining Southern Door’s Luke Claflin and Jappenah Kellogg III. All three were from the last recruiting class of former coach Linc Darner.
