GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — With gas prices continuing their massive spike, the little things might start to matter when it comes to getting the most mileage out of your gas tank.
Theo Terrell with Green Bay’s Fair Muffler and Brake Shop says maintenance matters, especially now.
“When gas is $2 a gallon, you don’t notice it, but when it’s $5 a gallon, you would notice,” said Terrell.
It’s things like making sure the little things work.
“Check your maintenance records,” Terrell said. “If it’s due, and even if it’s due soon, do it a little ahead of time. New sparkplugs will definitely help it run better.”
Check your tires, too.
“Making sure your tires inflated may not seen like much, but if your tires are supposed to be at 35 and they’re at 30, there’s all that rolling resistance.”
All of that could help improve fuel economy. Current gas prices as of Friday average $4.03 statewide, and $4.09 in Green Bay. In Appleton and Oshkosh, it’s $3.99.
