GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Kohler Co. has dropped a lawsuit seeking a rebate from what it says are overcharged property taxes on a hotel near Lambeau Field.
The civil lawsuit stated Ashwaubenon set the value of Lodge Kohler at $16.8 million, and levied a property tax of $304,121. But, Kohler claims the fair market value is actually $12.3 million, and the “correct assessment” would be no higher than $11.6 million, with a property tax bill of $210,988. As a result, it is seeking refund of at least $93,133, the suit says.
The village had not formally replied to the suit, which was filed Dec. 3.
A “notice of voluntary dismissal” was approved Monday by a Brown County judge, closing the suit. The document obtained by FOX 11 does not state a reason for the dismissal.
Village manager Joel Gregozeski told FOX 11 he doesn’t know why the lawsuit was dropped.
“No arrangements have been made between the two parties,” he said.
Kohler Company has not replied to FOX 11’s request for comment.
