GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — While gas prices may have people driving less, they aren’t flying less.
In fact, Spring Break air travel this year is expected to be among the highest in years.
“It’s been pretty busy the last few weeks, and I expect that to continue until at least mid-April,” said Green Bar Austin Straubel Airport (GRB) Director Marty Piette.
Springtime travelers, whether people just seeking a respite from the often gloomy beginning of March to families with school children taking advantage of the break at school, are seeking brighter skies.
“They’re going to the warm places. We’re seeing quite a few people on our Florida flights, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, also seeing some to Fort Meyers and Phoenix, Arizona” Piette told WTAQ.
Piette says that COVID restrictions easing up and falling away throughout most of the country has people wanting to travel.
“There’s quite a bit of pent up demand. We’re still seeing a lot of leisure travel,” said Piette. “And business travel is starting to come back.”
GRB has flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Ft Lauderdale, Ft Myers, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, and Tampa.
