FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Police are reminding drivers of the dangers of drinking and driving after officers made four separate OWI arrests on Thursday.
The first happened around noon. Officers were called to a crash near W. Scott and N. Hickory streets. During the investigation, they arrested a 30-year-old man for operating while impaired.
Then, at 6:45 p.m., a caller reported a possibly intoxicated driver. Police found the vehicle in the 100 block of Rolling Meadows Drive. The arrested a 43-year-old man for operating while intoxicated and also gave him tickets for driving with a suspended license and having open intoxicants in the vehicle.
At 9:13 p.m., officers arrested a 44-year-old woman for OWI after a crash near W. Johnson Street and N. Pioneer Road. The driver was also ticketed for running a red light.
The final incident involved a brief chase. At 11:49 p.m., a caller reported a possible intoxicated driver. Officers found the vehicle around W. Division and N. Macy streets. They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off instead. After a slow chase, a 52-year-old woman was arrested for second-offense OWI and eluding officers.
“The City of Fond du Lac Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers that drunk driving is preventable, as it starts with responsible decision making,” police wrote in a social media post.
