GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Former State Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman says that too much attention is being focused on a suggestion made in his report on the partisan investigation into the 2020 Presidential Election that the state legislature could look to decertify the election results.
“It is just one of the potential outcomes,” Gableman said during an interview with WTAQ on Wednesday. “More realistically the answer is for people to find and work to elect candidates who support… election integrity.”
Gableman made several suggestions regarding how elections are run in the state, including getting rid of the Wisconsin Elections Commission and minimizing pre-voting.
Leading up to the presentation and release of Gableman’s report on Tuesday, he consistently said he had no intention of overturning the results of the 2020 election. He says nothing in his recommendations contradicts that.
“My remarks are confined only to Wisconsin decertification,” said Gableman. “That would not lead to an overturning of the election.”
Gableman reiterated that he believes there was criminal wrongdoing during the election.
“We know there was illegal conduct. Self admitted illegal conduct,” Gableman said Wednesday. “We know that our elderly were abused for the sake of getting a ballot out of them.”
It’s not clear where Gableman’s investigation goes next. He says he’s in discussions with Assembly Leader Robin Vos.
