STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A body has been found in the rubble of a burned-out bar in Sturgeon Bay.
Assistant Police Chief Dan Brinkman said Tuesday that investigators are still working to identify the victim.
He also said the building is unstable, making further searches difficult.
One person remained unaccounted for as of about 1:45 p.m.
Brinkman says crew were called to Butch’s Bar on S. 3rd Avenue around 3:40 a.m. for a fire.
Brinkman says there are 20 available rooms above the bar; nine of those were occupied at the time of the fire.
Firefighters say one of those people were taken to the hospital and Brinkman says he’s on his way to a burn center.
A total of nine people are displaced.
Firefighters say the roof and second floor of the bar collapsed.
Brinkman says the fire did not spread to other buildings and they do not know how it started.
Several roads are also closed in the area.
Businesses in the area are open and available to get to by foot only.
It is not known when crews will clear the scene.
