GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A shooting investigation is underway on the west side of Green Bay.
Police say around 1:15 p.m. Friday, an officer saw a disturbance taking place outside a Walgreens store at the intersection of W. Mason and Oneida streets. Dispatchers were also receiving calls about a disturbance at the same location.
Responding officers were told that shots had been fired. A male was shot and took himself to the hospital. Police were not sure of his condition.
One person, who police believe is the shooter, was taken into custody. A second person fled the scene, and police are searching for him. The person was not believed to be in the area as of Tuesday afternoon.
Nearby Lincoln Elementary, West High and Franklin Middle schools went into “secure the building” mode, but that was lifted at 2:20 p.m. Families with students who normally walk home are asked to come to school to pick them up.
