APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Kyle Peebles was sentenced to five years in prison for an attempted armed robbery at a liquor store.
Peebles, 31, was also placed on extended supervision for five years by Judge Mark Schroeder at Thursday’s hearing, court records show.
Officers were called to Memorial Liquor on S. Memorial Drive just after midnight Aug. 11. When authorities arrived, they found an employee of the store had sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck several times by the robber who was armed with a handgun.
During the robbery, Peebles did fire the gun one time. No one was struck by the round but Peebles injured himself when the firearm recoiled, striking him in the forehead.
Officers safely arrested Peebles as he was leaving the area. They found a gun at the scene.
