GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Valentines Day is quickly approaching, and in an economy dealing with supply issues and price increases, it may not be a typical one.
Majorie Hitchcock with Seroogy’s Chocolates says they’ve dealt with increased production costs, and as such, they’ve had to raise prices.
“We’ve had some issues, primarily with packaging, before Christmas, but that seems to have straightened out, and we have labor issues, like everyone does,” Hitchcock told WTAQ. “We didn’t raise our prices last year, but because of the pandemic, packaging costs have gone up significantly.”
She does say there’s now plenty of chocolate on the shelves.
Jeremy Stitchman, the owner of Flowerama in Green Bay says it hasn’t been so easy this year.
“Because of the pandemic and stuff, we’ve had a lot of shipping issues, but we changed things up, we did some substitutions, and we’re making it work,” said Stichman.
They, too, will have their shelves full for the Valentines Day holiday.
“We did receive all of our vases, and we haven’t had a problem receiving flowers,” said Stichman on Monday. “We are fully stocked.”
Flower prices are about the same as last year. Expect to pay around $40 for a dozen roses, and around $80 if you get them in a vase.
