The charging station was installed in the Memorial Chapel parking lot and is capable of charging two vehicles at once.
The project was supported by funds from the Cargill grant.
Project coordinators tells FOX 11 the need for a station has been growing.
“We’re seeing more and more people getting electric vehicles,” said Grace Subat, Sustainability and Special Projects Fellow. “Of course most people don’t have an electric vehicle, but that’s the way of the future, as we’re seeing and we’re hoping. But we wanted to have this place so that students, faculty and staff, or people that are visiting our campus, have this resource.”
The cost to charge the vehicles is $1 an hour for the first four hours and $3 an hour for every additional hour.
