KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) — America’s symbol will get its day under the winter sun this weekend at 1000 Islands Nature Center in Kaukauna.
Eagle Days is an annual event that celebrates the conservation success story that is the Bald Eagle. Director Naturalist Debbie Nowak says the Eagle population was once falling across the country.
“Our nation’s symbol is doing very strong, very well,” said Nowak. “And you can see them quite a bit outside, in the wild, these days.”
The event takes includes not only eagle viewings, but a storybook walk, children’s obstacle course, and more.
“We have volunteers stationed at three different observation areas,” Nowak said Tuesday. “We’ll have binoculars, spotting scopes, we’ll be able to answer questions and really point out where the eagles are.”
There will also be three live eagle presentations, although tickets have already been spoken for. A live feed for those presentations will be set up. The event takes place between 7 A.M. and 5 P.M. this Saturday.
