GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Brown County Board may eventually vote to take a stand on if the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District should be disbanded — but it apparently won’t do so at the meeting next week.
State Rep. David Steffen has proposed disbanding the district, shifting its lease responsibilities to the City of Green Bay. Some, including the Green Bay Packers, oppose the plan — with the Packers organization threatening to sue if the plan goes forward.
In a letter this week to the other supervisors, Supv. Pat Evans suggested the County Board should take a stand on the issue, and asked that it be placed on Wednesday’s agenda as an item for the Committee of the Whole.
The County Board agenda for Jan. 19 was released Friday afternoon, and that topic isn’t on it.
The County Board office said Friday the item could end up being referred to one of the board’s standing committees.
Steffen has said he doesn’t intend for his legislation to reach the governor this year, leaving more time for discussion and changes.
