CLEVELAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — On Wednesday, Lakeshore Technical College held its first esports tournament.
Esports is a form of competition using videogames.
Students who meet certain criteria can compete in tournaments. They hold weekly practices and other events for those who might be interested in joining.
Esports coach and instructor, James Rice, says there’s more to it than just playing games.
“It’s not just playing video games, but it’s also about learning strategies and problem solving, critical thinking,” said James Rice, esports coach and IT web and software development instructor. “You can work on hand-eye coordination, you know, all of the stuff you hear from playing video games. it really helps you develop those skills.”
Ongoing tours are available for anyone interested in joining.
