MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin broke its all-time record for daily COVID-19 cases on Monday as the omicron variant continues to surge.
The state Department of Health Services reported 8,058 confirmed cases on Monday, topping the previous record of 7,884 last Wednesday.
Previously, there had not been more than 7,000 cases in a single day since Nov. 17, 2020.
It moves the seven-day-average to 5,711 confirmed cases.
Statewide, 62% of Wisconsinites have has at least one vaccine dose, with 58.2% completing their series.
The seven-day average of deaths fell slightly to 20, with 35 deaths being reported on Monday.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 1,013,239 confirmed cases and 10,133 deaths in Wisconsin.
