SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A company that makes materials used in rapid diagnostic tests has received a $136.7 million government contract to build manufacturing capability at its facility in Sheboygan.
MilliporeSigma plans to build the facility to make lateral flow membranes. The products are used in tests that help diagnose COVID-19, among other illnesses and medical conditions.
The departments of Defense and Health and Human Services say the manufacturing capability will help provide for more than 83.3 million tests per month for COVID-19 and future testing needs.
Construction is planned for a three-year period.
