GREEN BAY, WI (WRN) – Last month’s Waukesha Christmas Parade attack has Green Bay officials considering additional safety measures for large outdoor gatherings.
A city bond approved three years ago sets aside 400 thousand dollars to buy two dozen vehicle barriers. The steel barriers would stop a vehicle traveling at 30 miles an hour.
When 39-year-old Darrell Brooks Junior drove into the crowd at Waukesha, killing six and wounding more than 60, the need for those barriers was heightened – and Green Bay is looking for more ways to improve safety for celebrations like the Fourth of July, Artstreet, or for marathons.
