MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Menasha is the place to be for bicyclists.
The League of American Bicyclists honored the city with a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community Award.
The award recognizes Menasha’s commitment to creating unique mobility solutions for residents of all ages and abilities.
“Biking has the power to transform our nation economically, environmentally and socially and it’s so important that communities like Menasha have laid the groundwork over several years to make biking a safe, accessible option for all” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists.
More than 850 communities applied for recognition by the Bicycle Friendly Community program.
There are five levels of the BFC award – diamond, platinum, gold, silver and bronze, plus an honorable mention category.
Menasha is home to multiple biking trails including Loop the Little Lake Trail.
Trails connect to major destinations in the city like schools, parks, healthcare and grocery stores.
The city also added bike parking, on and off street facilities and road diets to make it more bike friendly.
