FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Northeast Wisconsin-based manufacturer is expanding its headquarters.
Mercury Marine announced Monday that capacity will be increased in its foundry and machining facilities in Fond du Lac, adding close to 100,000 additional square feet to the campus.
“Demand for Mercury products continues to accelerate, and we will be positioning the company to meet the growing needs of our global channel partners,” Mercury Marine President Chris Drees said in a news release. “Expanding these two facilities in Wisconsin will give us the opportunity to produce more engines and meet the growing needs of our global channel partners.”
Aside from the expansions in Fond du Lac, Mercury Marine says it plans to open a 512,000-square-foot distribution center near Indianapolis, Indiana.
“Fond du Lac remains Mercury’s headquarters and global center for development and center of excellence for manufacturing of high horsepower engines as well as future state-of-the-art propulsion systems,” Drees added. “For us to continue to meet the needs of our global customers, we identified an opportunity to create a centralized distribution center that will have an immediate impact on our customers and our business. Our current distribution facility in Fond du Lac will be converted into additional manufacturing space, used to meet record demand for Mercury propulsion systems.”
The Indianapolis-area facility is expected to open in October.
