OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new trial date of May 31 was set Monday for Grant Fuhrman, who allegedly stabbed a police liaison officer at Oshkosh West High School.
Fuhrman, 18, is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the Dec. 3, 2019 incident. Prosecutors say Officer Mike Wissink shot Fuhrman after Fuhrman stabbed him. Students and staff evacuated, and classes were canceled for two days.
Fuhrman previously not guilty, and has dropped a plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
The trial was once scheduled to start Dec. 6, but a series of pre-trial issues pushed back the trial.
A total of 10 days, starting the day after Memorial Day, are now scheduled for trial, court records show.
Also Monday, the judge rejected Fuhrman’s request to have the $1 million cash bond lowered, according to court records.
Wissink recovered, and retired in March.
