GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – It’s a bright start to the beginning of WPS’s Garden of Lights at the Green Bay Botanical Garden.
A sold out crowd Friday was in full force taking in the breathtaking lights, including Linda Jacques.
“Family tradition, probably from when they first started doing the lights.”
She’s brought generations of her family to the light display, starting with her own kids as teenagers, to now with her grandson.
Adding there’s nothing quite like the garden of lights to get you ready for the holidays.
“Well, it just gets you in the holiday mood and, you know, you just get ready for the lights and all the trimmings that go with it,” said Jacques.
That includes taking a memorable walk down the caterpillar tunnel, which the garden’s Linda Gustke says is one of the most popular displays.
“We approximate it to be about 325,000 lights. So individual lights, and the number of displays. There’s a dozen of displays out there depending on how you like to group them, but we have just under a mile of displays of lights throughout the show here.”
Titletown’s Winter Jubilee also kicked off with a dazzling light show illuminating on the outside of Lambeau Field.
Leah Strong’s from Oconomowoc, and was in the area visiting family.
And when they looked for something to do, there was one clear winner.
“We wanted to do something fun that was getting us in the Christmas spirit,” said Strong. “I mean, this was probably the best light show that I’ve ever seen.”
The Holiday Light opportunities continues throughout the rest of the year.
