GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — While official numbers aren’t yet available, the first weekend of the nine day gun deer season is in the books.
The DNR’s Jeff Pritzl says that all things considered, it was a relatively normal weekend.
“Some people had their best year ever, and some people had their worst year ever, and everything in between,” Pritzl told WTAQ. “Some people saw all kinds of deer, and some people didn’t see a single one, including me!”
Pritzl says, anecdotally, that it appears that Saturday was somewhat of a low day for deer movement, although conditions were otherwise good.
“Overall I’d say that Saturday was on the quieter side as far as deer activity, and then Sunday, of course, the weather changed, and I think the day started out pretty good but quickly deteriorated,” said Pritzl.
The season lasts until November 28th.
