GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — New North Region is asking Northeast Wisconsinites to take a brief survey to determine gaps in broadband coverage in the region.
The survey will collect info about your internet speeds.
“People can click on it and fill it out online,” said Barb LaMue, New North’s CEO. “Whatever computer or phone they use, it does record their upspeed and downspeed.”
The aim is to determine where broadband coverage is lacking so that consultants can target resources to fix those issues.
“The report will be compiled based on that service data,” said LaMue. “Also interviews with service providers and county officials.”
The importance of broadband, she says, was underlined during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We see it as just as important as popping onto I-41 and going to your next meeting,” LaMue told WTAQ.
LaMue says they know that some rural areas, and even some more urban ones in Northeast Wisconsin, have issues with broadband service.
The survey was mailed out last week and can also be found online at thenewnorth.com/broadband-access.
