DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) — De Pere Police say that the woman assaulted last week in broad daylight on the East River Trail is recovering and out of the hospital.
In a Wednesday update the department called her actions during the assault “courageous”.
They say they’re working with the crime lab to process evidence in order to confirm the identity of the attacker.
The woman was attacked on Tuesday, October 5th at just before 11:30 while walking on the trail with her infant child by someone she did not know.
The nature of the assault hasn’t been released.
De Pere police say they are focusing ‘all of their resources’ towards solving the crime.
On Friday, Miles Cruz was indicted on sealed charges and had bond set at $1 million. During his court hearing, his defense attorney implied that the charges had something to do with the trail attack, however neither attorney nor the De Pere Police Department has confirmed any link to the attack.
