GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Online learning is here to stay in Green Bay, but it has little to do with the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Next school year will be the first in operation for GBAPS Online PreK through 5 and for the John Dewey Online Learning Academy, both full-time online school programs in Green Bay.
Adam Gloudemans is the principal of both Lincoln Elementary and GBAPS Online.
“Even prior to the pandemic,” said Gloudemans. “There had been some exploration and some parent requests for an online school or program for Green Bay students.”
It’s not going to be quite like online learning was last year during the pandemic. There will be a physical support station available for students at Lincoln Elementary.
“We are really going to research best practices, we are going to have [our] highly qualified teachers doing it,” said Gloudemans. “We are really going to work with families to make sure students are getting the education that they want.”
Gloudemans says the online program is intended to be a permanent part of the district’s offerings.
Around 40 students have already enrolled.
