DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – A utility company is urging spring planters to call before they dig.
Wisconsin Public Service planted trees at De Pere’s Voyageur Park Friday in honor of Arbor Day.
WPS was recently named a 2021 Tree Line USA award recipient by the Arbor Day Foundation for its work to improve tree care and conservation in the communities it serves.
Each tree planted Friday was chosen to reduce the potential that it would contact overhead electrical equipment.
Another important part of spring planting is making sure you call 811, Digger’s Hotline, before digging.
Calling 811 allows utility companies to mark the location of their underground lines, helping to keep digging sites safe, as well as avoid service interruptions or costly repairs.
