GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A Green Bay man has been formally charged in a fatal stabbing at the Marathon Gas Station near Downtown Green Bay on Sunday.
43-year-old Joseph Olvera was charged Tuesday with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly fatally stabbing a man Sunday.
Police Commander Paul Ebel says 43-year-old Joseph Olvera attacked the man after mistaking the victim for a driver who had just cut him off.
“The suspect was leaving the gas station, another car was coming in and cut him off,” explained Ebel. “He became upset confronted what he thought was the car that it cut him off, but it was not.”
It’s the second stabbing death in Green Bay in less than 30 days. In both incidents, drivers were approached from outside their car before being stabbed.
If somebody pounds on your window, or if somebody cuts you off… forget about it,” Ebel warns. “Call 911 if you’re confronted by somebody, and stay in your car.”
Olvera made an initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon. Bond was set at $750,000 cash. His next appearance will be April 27th.
