GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A registered sex offender police considered “high risk” has been charged with escape.
Roy Burnam, 56, cut off his GPS monitoring device and left his home in Green Bay last week, police said. He was later arrested in Fond du Lac County.
According to online court records, Burnam faces two felony counts: escape by a sexually violent offender under a commitment order and tampering with a GPS device. He is due in court Friday afternoon.
According to Wisconsin’s sex offender registry, Burnam was convicted of lewd molestation in Oklahoma in 1996 and child enticement in Waukesha County in 1998. He was ordered committed as a sexually violent person in 2010.
