MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has issued another mask order less than an hour after the Wisconsin Assembly repealed his previous order.
The move was anticipated by some, and is bound to immediately launch legal challenges and additional action in the state legislature.
“Every step of the way our statewide strategies to contain this virus have been met with lawsuits, political rhetoric, and obstruction,” Evers said in a Facebook address. “Unfortunately that happened again today.”
Former conservative Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly predicted this would happen earlier this week on WTAQ’s ‘The Regular Joe Show”, and he urged the legislature to overturn the new order.
“If they overturn his state of emergency and he declares another one, they need to overturn that one too,” Kelly told host Joe Giganti. “Until the governor gets the lesson that the legislature is the source of policy for the state.”
Legislative Republicans have argued that the Governor has overstepped his authority in issuing repeated mask orders.
