GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Wisconsin Republican US Congressman Mike Gallagher has signed on to a statement urging an end to election opposition.
While Gallagher told WTAQ’s ‘The Regular Joe Show’ that he think there were irregularities in the 2020 election that ought to be investigated, there’s no chance that the election results will be overturned.
“The house is run by Democrats, right?” Gallagher told host Joe Giganti. “Do we not understand that January 6th has no chance of being successful?”
January 6th is the day congress is set to certify the vote of the electoral college, and thus, the victory of former Vice President and Democrat Joe Biden over incumbent Republican President Donald Trump.
Several senators and over 100 congressmen plan to object to at least one state’s slate of electors, citing concerns about election irregularities. Gallagher says it’s not about whether such irregularities occurred, but whether or not you can prove them in court.
“We don’t have proof of it that has survived in court,” Gallagher said, adding that he was concerned about reports of Ballot Harvesting in Milwaukee and Madison.
“To overturn the election would create chaos, and we don’t have a single state where the state legislature has voted to object to their state’s slate of electors,” he added.
Gallagher signed on with several other Republican lawmakers in the statement released Sunday.
“Even the objectors agree there is no hope of [the objections] being successful,” Gallagher said Monday. “And I think it’s unconstitutional for congress to choose the President.”
President-elect Biden won the state of Wisconsin by over 20,000 votes. President Trump’s court challenges have not led to any state overturning their results.
