GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Kayla Harkonen of Green Bay was almost speechless on the first morning of the New Year.
She’s a new mom to Landon Keith Harkonen.
She’s the first new mom of 2021 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
While she and her husband are excited to add to their family
“Our baby is going to have to see people with masks on so like that developmental piece is a concern,” the new mom said.
Having a baby in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic comes with its own set of challenges.
Harkonen adds it’s more than Landon’s development she’s concerned about, after her family walks out these hospital doors.
“It was a hard pill to swallow at first just because my husband couldn’t go to any of the appointments so that was a bummer, and it’s the first grandchild so none of our parents could be here to experience it with us,” said Harkonen. “I think that was the hardest part.”
In the valley, this is Zayn Maddox Reetz.
He is the first baby born into the ThedaCare system in 2021.
The hospital says he’ll join his big sister, Ezra, who’s two years old.
The first baby born at Aurora BayCare, meet Ka’Miyah Dior Nissen. She was born at 3:39 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, the first baby at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital is Winston Joseph Klee. His mom says she’s excited to take home to meet his siblings.
