GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A new dashboard is designed to help schools and parents in Brown County navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
The dashboard tracks a number of COVID-19 related statistics in the county.
“It shows the COVID-19 daily hospitalizations of the past two weeks and the seven day rolling average of positivity for ages five to 18,” said Autumn Linsmeier with the health department.
The 5-18 demographic is an important one in Brown County. School districts, health officials say, may want to use those numbers to make decisions on whether to reopen schools for in-person classes.
The business community, too, could use the dashboard to make decisions on whether or not to stay open or reduce operations.
“It’s important to note that these are just tools,” said Public Health Officer Anna Destree. “Schools and businesses are not required to use our dashboard in our decision making.”
It’s designed to be intuitive enough that anyone could use it.
“It’s a tool for everyone to use it to make the best decisions for themselves and their families,” said Destree.
The dashboard will be updated every day at 2:00 pm with the most recent information.
It comes at a time when Green Bay and the surrounding area is seeing an explosive growth in COVID-19 cases, with a recent New York Times report ranking the metro area as the 6th highest in the country in terms of average case growth.
The current COVID-19 burden rate, calculated by taking the number of cases per 100,000 residents over the past 14 days, stands at 70.85. Seventy Brown County residents are hospitalized with the virus.
The dashboard is available at Stayhealthybc.com.
