GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay Police say misinformation, in part, has driven the backlash against a use of force incident that occurred at a Green Bay hotel earlier this month.
Police were called out on September 17th to a local hotel to a report of an underage drinking party at that hotel that hotel staff had already asked to leave, and when police arrived several people resisted arrest, and officers used force to subdue them.
“As officers responded, some people became uncooperative and refused to comply with lawful commands,” Police Commander Kevin Warych told WTAQ. “Those people were subsequently arrested.”
That created backlash online, but Warych says a lot of it was fueled was misinformation.
“There was a lot of fear and resentment on social media,” Warych said.
Police say no TASERs were used during the incident.
In all, ten were arrested, and they’re expected to be charged with crimes ranging from underage drinking, to drug possession, to battery of a police officer.
