OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The EAA Aviation Museum has reopened to the public.
EAA Aviation Center Director Ron Connolly says he’s happy to see guests back.
“There was a little boy that came in and was at the top of the stairs and just looked to the museum and said ‘wow’. You know I really miss the fascination that you see on the faces of our guests,” said Connolly.
Connolly says there was a lot of push from the community to open again. EAA has upgraded several exhibits, although some remain off-limits due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ve done an audiovisual update to the Skyscape Theater so images are going to be brighter, sound better. Really one of the greatest additions to the museum since we closed was the installation of the Huey exhibit, that is now in the Eagle Hanger,” said Connolly.
“Kidventure and some high touch, I believe there are about 6 high touch areas around the museum areas that are labeled as temporarily closed,” he added.
Masks are required and temperatures are being checked. Visitor John Polkowski was OK with it.
“We were checked in the car and we knew what we were getting into when we got here with the masks and everything so yeah, we definitely felt comfortable,” Polkowski said.
Connolly says he hopes the aviation center will bring more visitors to Oshkosh again.
