LUXEMBURG, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Kewaunee County Racing Association is getting a late start to its season, but let the racing begin on Sunday.
Luxemburg Speedway is open after meeting with county officials to address COVID-19 concerns for the season.
Racers and fans were looking forward to getting back to the track, but will have to make some safety changes to their normal routine.
Joe Orsini, the Kewaunee County Racing Association’s public relations spokesman and track announcer at Luxemburg Speedway, tells FOX 11…
“We’ve got some restrictions in place that we worked out with the county, and we’re thinking that we’re going to have a safe event, and have people out here and have a good time, and get themselves in a little bit of a crowd, but still maintain social distancing, and be able to prove that folks can gather up and be safe.”
The “COVID Crusher Season Opener,” featured five different classes of racing.
New procedures will include blocked-off rows in the grandstand, social distancing reminders, and workers wearing masks.
Racing will continue, except for the week of July 4th, until August 30th.
