ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Capital Credit Union Park has released their special event COVID-19 reopening guidelines.
The park has sat empty during the pandemic. The Green Bay Booyah have yet to take the field. Seats normally full of cheering fans… empty.
“It’s definitely been a challenging few months for everybody,” said Vice President and General Manager of the Green Bay Booyah John Fanta, “this can take your mind off of it.”
This past weekend the park hosted a 13U baseball tournament.
“We’re going to try to still do a lot of the fun things that folks are accustomed to,” said Fanta.
Like watching baseball, just a little differently. Various guidelines have been put into place to keep fans safe while spectating.
Facility Director Kevin Leisgang tells FOX 11…
“We met with Brown County, looked over CDC guidelines, and state guidelines and kind of collaborated.”
One of the guidelines fans can anticipate at the stadium is practicing social distancing. Capacity which is typically 4,000 will now be decreased to 1,000.
Fanta tells FOX 11 the facility will also only accept payments for tickets and concessions in the form of card. Cash can only be used for tips.
“We’ve had a few months to get over the nerves. I think now it’s just about executing our plan safely.”
Fanta adds making and keeping the ballpark safe is key to bringing fans back.
“I think everyone’s just looking forward to getting back out and enjoy a cold beverage and a hot dog on a nice summer day.”
Officials with the Northwoods League are meeting this week to decide how to move forward with the 2020 regular season.
