Not surprisingly, FBI Director Christopher Wray made a public statement in which he praised Boente for his 'decades of service to this country,' claiming that Americans owe a 'great deal of gratitude' to Boente.
But, in reality, we don't owe Boente anything.
Keep in mind, Boente was among the top Obama-era intelligence officials who signed off on meritless FISA warrant renewal applications that led to the needless and illegal spying upon of then-Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page.
Carter Page is a law-abiding U.S. citizen who, to this day, has not even been charged with one single crime.
Page was spied upon by the Obama Administration for totally partisan purposes.
Boente was among those responsible for this massive injustice.
Based on the timing of Boente's announcement, it appears he's hoping to get out the door prior to the various investigations into Obama-era corruption and criminality wrapping up.
Maybe, Boente figures that if he's retired, he'll be spared legal consequence for his actions.
However, it is imperative, not for partisan purposes, but for the good of our country, that all of this government corruption and criminality is fully and appropriately addressed.
We cannot allow these high-ranking Obama officials to get away with destroying the lives of law-abiding Americans, like Carter Page.
If we allow criminality to go unpunished, it sets precedent that government officials can get away with abusing their power.
As a result, people who hold such positions now or in the future could needlessly infringe upon any of our rights, just as was done to Carter Page.
The politics of the involved parties are irrelevant. What matters is that such corruption and criminality happened in our shared nation's government.
That cannot be tolerated by any American.
