OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Dec. 15 trial date was scheduled Friday for a man charged with causing his daughter’s death in a drunken driving crash.
Steven Brownell, 60, previously pleaded not guilty to three counts, including homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, for the Aug. 10, 2018 crash.
Brownell returns to court next on Aug. 26 for a motions hearing, court records show.
His daughter, Kherington, 10, was killed in the crash on Highway 45, while her brother, Kage, 13, was injured.
According to the criminal complaint, Brownell’s blood alcohol level was .278, more than three times the legal limit. Brownell’s Mustang left the highway, went airborne, and crashed in a cornfield. One witness estimated he was going at least 100 mph, according to the complaint.
