GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A crash that damaged a police squad vehicle is prompting a reminder from Green Bay PD about safe driving in less than ideal weather conditions.
Police say the vehicle was stopped at an off-ramp from Hwy. 54/57 while an officer investigated a crash around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The marked vehicle had its emergency lights on.
A 17-year-old boy driving a pickup truck rear-ended the squad vehicle, extensively damaging both vehicles.
There was light rain falling and the road was wet from heavy rains that fell earlier in the afternoon. The teen said he was unable to see the police vehicle at first.
When he realized the police vehicle was stopped for an emergency, the teen tried to stop but lost control of his truck.
The teen was not injured. Neither was the officer, who was outside the vehicle.
